The Fires Of (album release) w/special guests: The Young Novelists and Alex Exists
The Fires Of celebrate the release of 'Press On!'. The album's 10 songs emerged from a contagious creative energy; arriving like swallows from the south. Spontaneity and connection guided what came. 'Press On!' is the band's strongest and most complete work to date. Come together to join The Fires Of as they mark the birth of their next era, Thursday June 1st at The Piston (937 Bloor St. West).
The Fires Of is a collective of Canadian musicians that thrives on bringing joy and melody to the people with their infectious brand of indie-pop and high-energy live shows. The strength of the music and wide range of their repertoire is a direct result of the collective nature of the band.
Joining the celebrations are the band's closest and longest-standing collaborators, special guests The Young Novelists and Alex Exists. There is history and meaning between this group of creators and performers.
The Young Novelists create contemporary folk songs that marry their effortless harmonies with darkly poetic lyrics and exquisitely crafted hooks. They have toured across Canada, the United States, and in Europe, often with their young son in tow. Their signature show features confessional storytelling about their songs and travels, singalongs, and the unique sound of bowed glockenspiel.
ALEX EXISTS is a Slavic-Canadian alt-pop artist, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and filmmaker based out of Toronto. His work is inspired by absurdism, surrealism and optimistic nihilism. The signature of ALEX EXISTS music is his experimental sonic touches, drum heavy rhythms and classic pop through a blender melodies. Fusing neo-glam pomp and post-punk sneer together with a razor sharp tongue.
